You can simply check the collected rain against the scale, record your results, and empty the gauge so it’s ready for the next rainfall - no adjustments or fiddling necessary!
Placement recommendations
To ensure you get an accurate reading, we recommend you place the rain gauge in an open area, away from tall trees, large shrubs, and buildings, to prevent any obstructions that could affect rain collection. Your gauge should also be positioned at least twice as far away as the height of the nearest tree or building.
Avoid strong wind exposure
Strong winds can impact the accuracy of readings by up to 20%, as the wind can drive rainfall against the gauge rather than allowing it to fill. We suggest you position the gauge near low bushes, fences, or buildings, which can act as natural buffers against strong winds.
How to mount the gauge
To mount the rain gauge, you should attach the mounting bracket to a vertical or horizontal post or rail using the appropriate set of screw holes. You should position the bracket slightly above, rather than level with, the top of the post or rail to ensure the rain gauge sits above it.
